Expectations about hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is not magic, although the results can sometimes seem like it. In most cases, the way I work with hypnotherapy is to help you remove the limiting emotions in a particular area of your life, and once we have done that it is relatively easy for you to increase your positive emotions.

The state of hypnosis

The state of hypnosis we use is generally a light one, where you will be aware of everything and remember everything; this is because I need to maintain communication with you to guide you to making the changes you want. My preferred way of doing this, usually is analytical or curative hypnotherapy, because I find it to be the most rapid and effective technique, but in some cases I will use a very gentle, permissive approach.

A note about clinical hypnotherapy

To describe hypnotherapy as ‘clinical hypnotherapy doesn’t really add anything, to my mind; calling someone a clinical hypnotherapist just implies a professional attitude which should be there anyway.

Why use analytical hypnotherapy?

The reason we work this way is that most of your limitations are learned as a result of life experiences. You have an inbuilt alarm system which helps you to survive and function in life by tagging ‘dangerous’ experiences with negative emotions, and so you will have developed restrictions in particular areas of your life, which are intended to keep you out of trouble but sometimes have the opposite effect. Often these emotions are out of conscious awareness, but in some cases you may be very clear about what has caused your problems.

Hypnotherapy individually tailored to you

I don’t use hypnotherapy scripts or record hypnotherapy sessions, as the whole point of you coming to see me is to receive a treatment which is specific to you and where changes are made during a session. If you would like to record a session, of course you are welcome to do so. It’s also absolutely fine if you would like to bring a friend or relative with you to a hypnotherapy session.
